LA LLACUNA, VILLALONGA
La Llacuna is a large flat area located up in the La Safor mountains and here is a huge national park with endless vast country side full of wildlife, there are fresh water mountain springs and magnificent country side with fantastic scenery which is a pure delight to explore on foot, on animal or on wheels, the river Serpis flows through the valley below along the old railway line now very popular with local hikers and cyclists. In Llacuna there is a popular Casa Rural with superb bar / restaurant open year round and which becomes busy with locals and visitors at the weekends and in the summer months.

Car is essential to go to the town of Villalonga which is a 3 mile drive down the hillside. Villalonga is a busy small town which provides all amenities you could wish for for including a good selection of bar / restaurants, beautiful Casa Rural / Hotel with fantastic restaurant, large supermarket, a variety of smaller shops including chemists, butchers, bakers, fruit & veg, clothes etc., nursery, primary and secondary schools, large new health centre, banks, sports grounds, new open air public swimming pool, street market twice weekly selling fresh produce, clothes and hardware this friendly town provides absolutely everything for daily living.

GANDIA
The large cosmopolitan town of Gandia is just a 10min drive from Villalonga and is the largest town in La Safor with a population of around 80.000 habitants. Gandia remains to be a very traditional very Spanish town not spoiled by the influence of International tourism.

The centre of the town enjoys a long, wide, beautiful tree lined Paseo which is super cool in the summer months under the natural shade, a great place to stop and have a drink in one of the many cafes or bar / restaurants. Within Gandia are endless shops of all varieties, chain stores, designer stores, supermarkets, banks, notaries, lawyers, nursery, primary and secondary schools, university, British school, large sports complex’s, hypermarkets, shopping and leisure centres, Churches, Museums and Palace’s, and many historic squares, town parks and gardens just to sit down and relax. Many of the streets in Gandia are now pedestrianized ensuring a lovely clean pollution free environment and it is a truly delightful experience to stroll around the town. Off the Paseo is the picturesque Calle Mayor (main street) with endless shops and cafes to choose from to sit and people watch. Gandia holds a weekly traditional market selling clothes, linens, household items and hardware. This is located at the end of the long Paseo, conveniently located a short walk from the centre of town over the impressive Suspension bridge crossing the River Serpis.

The population of Gandia can triple in the summer months when Spanish families visit their second homes on the magnificent Award winning blue flag sandy beach of Gandia. Having said that, although very busy and vibrant the resort boasts the necessary facilities to home the visitors and never becomes overcrowded.

Gandia is approx. 70kms south of Valencia (50 mins drive) or 125kms north of Alicante (1hr 15mins drive). The A7 motorway provides easy access to either airports or there is the main N332 coastal road for a more picturesque journey.

The main line RENFE train station is also located in the centre of the town and provides an excellent service to Valencia city, the journey takes approx. 1 hour and travels through the orange groves and the vast rice fields and National Park of Albufera with huge wetlands and lake.
