doctors, clinics, general hospital, many schools, colleges and
university etc. There is also a weekly street market selling hardware
and other goods. Gandia also boasts a blue flag Award winning sandy
beach resort with Club Nautico and Marina, this is the no 1 holiday
resort for Spanish tourism. Many families from inland towns such as
Madrid and Xativa own second homes here and flock to the coast to escape
the heat in the interior, so the beach comes alive in the summer months
when the children are off school. Throughout the remaining months
of the year the beaches are very quiet ideal for long walks in the
sunshine, water sports, horse riding etc.
Oliva beach is a 15 -
20 min drive and much less commercialized and unspoilt, having virgin
sand dunes and no high rise buildings this is very much a traditional
Spanish resort. Also a favorite for Spanish families having second homes
here and now more and more families are living year round at Oliva
beach. There is also a Club Nautico and Marina at Oliva beach with
popular restaurant and beach front swimming pool.
The Oliva Nova Golf
Complex with driving range and 18 hole course designed by Seve
Ballesteros is a 3 min drive south of Oliva and boasts a beautiful sand
dune beach setting. There is a popular restaurant with swimming pool,
health spa and the club house overlooks the course and is open to the
general public.
