Location La
Font d'en Carros is a traditional small 'Real Spain' town and is
situated a five minute flat drive inland traveling through the vast
and picturesque ever green orange groves from the two main towns of
either Gandia or Oliva. Within this small and friendly town there are
many amenities which are just short walk around the corner from the
house and these include banks, schools, sports facilities, doctors,
chemist, bar / restaurants, supermarkets and a variety of many small
shops etc. The vast orange groves are also just a moments stroll ideal
for dog walking, cycling etc.
The magnificent
Safor mountain range within the vast National Park is just a few miles
inland from La Font, beginning at Villalonga (home to many amenities)
this protected area provides fantastic country side to explore by
foot, bike, horse, motor bike or 4 x 4 vehicle. There are various
tracks with natural water springs and the old Railway line is now a
popular walk and follows the River Serpis to L'Orcha providing breath
taking scenery along the way. The main line did run from the Grao of
Gandia to Alcoi.
Nearby towns
La font is almost equally located and approximately 5 mins drive
between the two main towns of Gandia and Oliva. Gandia the largest
with all amenities including large new shopping centres, hypermarkets,
supermarkets, numerous bars, superb restaurants, banks, schools,
colleges and university, general hospital, sports complexes, weekly
market etc. Gandia also boasts an award winning blue flag golden sandy
exceptionally wide beach (which is the no. 1 resort for Spanish
tourism) many families from inland towns such as Madrid and Xativa own
second homes here and they come for the summer months to escape the
heat in the interior. The whole beach area has recently had many
improvements which include large underground car parks, new promenade
lining the length of the long playa, improved sports facilities on the
beach for locals etc. The playa also boasts many fine restaurants, a
variety of shops, frequent markets, numerous bars and disco's plus its
own Club Nautico and Marina. Following the summer months the beaches
become very quiet and are ideal for long walks in the sunshine, water
sports such as wind surfing, water skiing, scuba diving, horse riding
and walking dogs.
Also nearby is Oliva
which is the second largest town of La Safor and providing many more
amenities not found in La Font. The sand dune beach at Oliva is now
protected land free from further development to protect the natural
beauty, forna and wildlife. Many Spanish families own second holiday
homes here and the resort is thriving in the long summer and then the
remaining months of the year the beach is very quiet ideal for water
sports, horse riding, long walks in the winter sunshine and year round
swimming in the sea. There are many other smaller sandy blue flag
beaches in the region which can be found along this 22km stretch of
coast line just a short drive from the house.
Golf
Approx. 10kms from La Font d'en Carros is the Oliva Nova Golf Complex
with ***** Hotel resort and 18 hole course designed by Seve
Ballesteros. This also boasts a beautiful virgin sand dune beach
setting, the club house overlooks the course and is open to the
general public and there is a popular restaurant with swimming pools
and health spa also located there. The complex is very quiet and
peaceful even in the height of the summer months it never becomes
overcrowded. Nearby are horse riding centres, go carting, clay pigeon
shooting and a huge fresh water marsh land 'El Marjal' which is a
sanctuary mainly for bird wildlife. The Marjal is also very popular
with local fishermen who come and fish on one of the many free flowing
fresh water rivers. Here one can also find a large thermal lagoon
which has year round water temperature of 21ºc and is said to have
medicinal properties which ensures year round bathers with locals from
surrounding towns.
